1st Sunday of Lent
Science, Faith & Technology Sunday
In 1633
Galileo was taken to Rome to stand trial before the inquisition for heresy for
stating that the earth moves around the sun and not the sun resolving around the
earth.
The
cross-placed on a downward angle represents the tension between the church and
the scientific community. The sun is placed toward the center of the cross with
the earth moving around it.
